My research interests currently encompass a broad range of areas:

·         * Family and Parenting Studies including Reproductive Health

·         * Critical Race and Whiteness Studies

·         * Gender and Sexuality Studies

·         * Counselling Work and Ethical Practice including Psychoanalysis

In my work i am interested in bringing intersectional analyses to bear upon these topics, thus highlighting the operations of power within all aspects of my work. Specific topics i have conducted research on recently include the experiences of Australian sperm donors, issues of practice with foster carers, a critique of race privilege within non-heterosexual communities, and the experiences of refugee and migrant students in Australia. See my full publication list and the following list of books i have written/(co)edited:

·         Out in the Antipodes: Australian and New Zealand perspective on gay and lesbian issues in psychology (with Gordon Walker): Review 1, Review 2, Review 3, Review 4

Priscilla, (white) queen of the desert: Queer rights/race privilege: Review 1, Review 2

Becoming parent: Lesbians, gay men, and family: Review 1 Review 2

What about the children! Masculinities, sexualities and hegemony

In addition to this body of research, funded by both the Australian Research Council, The University of Adelaide, and Flinders University, I have been involved in consultancy work for The Institute of Social Relations (a branch of Relationships Australia), the Raising Children Network, and various state government departments.
